In the mood for the Olympic Games, exhibition in Rio displays historical objects

Inspired by the climate of the Olympic Games, exhibitions in Rio celebrate the history of sport with photographs, historical objects and lectures with Brazilian athletes. Highlight for the traveling exhibition “Sport Movement”, ending his journey in the Olympic city, displaying hundreds of sport-related items.

“Sport Movement”
Playing at Caixa Cultural from the day 10 July, the exhibition ends its itinerancy with more than a thousand pieces exhibited in Rio. After passing through six Brazilian cities, the largest private collection in the world about sport reaches the Olympic city. The collection belongs to Roberto Gesta de Melo and has more than 70 thousand artifacts. At the exhibition, coins will be displayed, trophies, stamps, torches, photos, videos, original medals and other objects related to the history of world sport. One of the highlights of the show is the Golden Laurel leaf, original fragment, used in old awards. The exhibit has items ranging from a limestone fragment dated to 2125 a.C., of the Ancient Egyptian Empire, with hieroglyphs and figures playing sports, even shirts worn by the athlete Adhemar Ferreira da Silva in his greatest achievements representing Brazil.

“Body and Soul Athletes”
On display at the Federal Justice Cultural Center, the exhibition has about 60 photographs of athletes in action in their respective sports, with portraits produced in a more personal and intimate way by photographer Gustavo Malheiros. Curated by Milton Guran.
When: of 6 from July to 28 August 2016. Tuesday to Sunday, from 12pm to 7pm.
Where: CCJF – Avenida Rio Branco, 241 – Cinelandia.

“SUPER Athletes”
Barra Shopping receives until the day 10 july the show “SUPER Athletes”, over 30 photographs of the greatest Brazilian athletes, accompanied by stories of overcoming. Beyond the exhibition, the program also has a cycle of lectures with some athletes, always at 10am. no day 6 July with Guilherme Borrajo, volleyball, in day 7 July with Bruno Landgraf, sailing, IS in the day 8 July with Vinícius Rodriques, athletics. Besides that, cultural workshops that will teach basics about Braille, paintings, drawings and games of knowledge for sports will happen daily, from 10am to 6pm. The exhibition has multimedia areas adapted for the visually impaired and wheelchair users, with all the content transcribed in audio, and guided tours for the visually impaired with audio guides.
